Essential Blue for Chambers

Blue Cross of Idaho has added Essential Blue for Chambers to its plan choices for small businesses. Similar to its sister plan, Chamber Blue, Essential Blue for Chambers is a low-cost Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health plan for businesses that do not currently offer health insurance to their employees.

By teaming up with local chambers of commerce, insurance agents and Idaho’s top providers, Blue Cross is able to keep costs down and offer affordable coverage.

Eligibility
To enroll in Essential Blue for Chambers a business must be a member of its local area chamber of commerce.  Because the intent is to reach the uninsured, groups must also have been without employer-sponsored coverage for the past 24 months.

Plan Benefits
Essential Blue for Chambers is ideal for cost-conscious groups who want some coverage for preventive care and wish to protect themselves against major illnesses. It is a limited benefit plan and not intended to cover all medical expenses. Preventive screening mammograms and other wellness benefits from contracting providers are covered after a $30 copayment. This makes it easy to see a doctor before minor problems become serious. Major medical services such as maternity care or surgery are subject to deductible and coinsurance.
