Classic Blue DentalSM
Classic Blue Dental is an affordable way for seniors to take care of their dental health.The average cost of a dental exam including cleaning and x-rays is more than $145. If you visit your dental provider every six months, as recommended and covered by this option, you’ll get an approximate $290 annual value, all for the low rate of $16.50 per month (rate valid through December 31, 2009).
The PPO Advantage
You also have the freedom of choosing your provider. Classic Blue Dental is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan. This means that in order to save money, you should choose providers from our PPO network. Blue Cross of Idaho has contracted with dentists throughout Idaho so that you are not billed more than an amount we have agreed with contracting providers to be the maximum allowance for an eligible service.
Covered Services
Classic Blue Dental pays 100% of the maximum allowance for in-network services. Out-of-network services are paid at 50% of the maximum allowance after the annual $50 deductible has been satisfied. Non-covered amounts and those that exceed our maximum allowance would be your responsibility.
Available benefits include oral exams, x-rays, and cleanings every six months.
Enrollment
To enroll in Classic Blue Dental click here, remember you must be an Idaho resident age 65 or older and you can not be enrolled in another Blue Cross of Idaho dental plan.
If you terminate your enrollment in Classic Blue Dental, you may not apply for Classic Blue Dental coverage for 24 months following the date of termination.

General Exclusions and Limitations
No benefits are available:

For peridontics and peridontal maintenance;

Services not specifically included in the list of covered services in your policy;

Services considered to be not medically necessary or investigational in nature;

Services rendered prior to your effective date of coverage; or
-
Services not prescribed by a dental care provider.

The current rate is $16.50 per month and is valid through December 31, 2009.
If you are currently enrolled in a Blue Cross of Idaho Medicare supplement medical plan, you are eligible to enroll in Classic Blue Dental for just $15.50 per month.
