Q. When am I eligible for a Medicare supplement program?
A. You are eligible for a Medicare supplement program once you have both Medicare Part A and Part B, and you are age 65 or older.
Q. Where can I go if I have questions on what Medicare Part A and Part B cover?
A. You can review the benefits of Medicare on the Medicare Web site at www.medicare.gov, or you can request the publication “Your Medicare Benefits” and review the benefits in this booklet.
Q. When will I receive notification that I have been accepted/enrolled in a Blue Cross of Idaho Medicare supplement program?
A. You will receive notification two to three weeks after we receive your application in our Meridian office.
Q. What type of material will I receive when I am accepted?

Q. Is there a waiting period before I can receive benefits with Blue Cross of Idaho Medicare supplement policies?
A. No. Benefits for eligible services are available immediately after your effective date.
Q. Can my Medicare supplement policy be cancelled if my health declines?
A. No. Coverage is guaranteed regardless of changes in health.
Q. What are Medicare eligible charges?
A. The medical charges listed in the Medicare guidelines that are eligible for payment under the Medicare plan.
Q. What are Medicare approved charges?
A. Medicare approved charges are those for which Medicare pays a percentage of coverage.
Q. What is a Medicare limiting charge?
A. A Medicare limiting charge is the maximum amount a health care provider can charge a Medicare patient for services.
Q. Do I get a discount on most prescription drugs with all of these plans?
A. Yes. Blue Cross of Idaho Medicare supplement plans come with the discount pharmacy service. Simply make your drug purchases at one of the participating WellPoint pharmacies listed in our directory. Please note that this is not prescription drug insurance and it is not eligible Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. It is simply a discount available to all Blue Cross of Idaho members.
Q. Do I have to fill out forms for Blue Cross of Idaho when I go to the doctor or hospital?
A. In most cases, no. Simply present your Blue Cross of Idaho identification card.
