What is a Formulary?
A formulary is a list of covered drugs selected by the Medicare Advantage plans in consultation with a team of health care providers, which represents the prescription therapies believed to be a necessary part of a quality treatment program. Your Medicare Advantage plan will generally cover the drugs listed in the formulary as long as the drug is medically necessary, the prescription is filled at a network pharmacy, and other plan rules are followed.
For basic information on your Medicare Advantage formulary, please review the Formulary Guide or review the Evidence of Coverage for your plan.
To check which prescription drugs are covered, or to find out if there are generic drugs equivalents, you can look them up in the following directories or use the online Prescription Drug tool.
