Common Questions About True Blue

Do I file my own claims?
No. As a True Blue member you have virtually no paperwork. You simply present your member identification card and the provider will submit your claim(s) directly to Blue Cross of Idaho for payment. 99% of True Blue claims are paid within 30 days, the industry standard is 95%.

My doctor is not on the panel of providers. Can I still see him/her?
True Blue does not pay for services provided by non-contracting, or “out-of-network”, providers without an authorization. True Blue's network has more than 2,000 providers. We encourage you to check our online provider directory or call Customer Service for a current directory listing.

Will I need a prior authorization?

True Blue encourages you to seek advice from your Primary Care Provider. This is known as a "referral" and is between you and your doctor. By pre-determining certain covered services. True Blue can guarantee the service meets Medicare criteria and follows plan rules.  This process is known as prior authorization. This authorization provides you with assurance in advance that if you are eligible upon the date of service, True Blue will pay for the services rendered.

Prior authorization also alerts the care management team to assist you with arrangements and coordination of your care so that you don’t have to worry about the details.

Will I make copayments?
There are a few small copayments for certain services as outlined in Section 2 of the Summary of Benefits  . Blue Cross of Idaho's philosophy is to offer a plan members can afford both when they are well and when they are  in need of medical care. For example, we ensure that you do not incur charges for lab work, durable medical equipment, inpatient admissions, outpatient services and preventive services. With this in mind, the sharing of small copayments among all members helps us to maintain a low premium, have no deductibles and no coinsurance.

Can I use True Blue when I travel?
Yes. True Blue offers an additional Travel benefit. True Blue covers office visits, preventive services, lab and diagnostics services anywhere in the United States without an authorization. There is a $3,000 per calendar year limit. Remember this is in addition to emergency and urgent care services available world-wide.
