Harnessing the collective energy of employees to render service to the community is a long held tradition at Blue Cross of Idaho. The Blue Crew mobilizes volunteers for a variety of community events. Through the Blue Crew employee volunteer program, Blue Cross of Idaho employees give their time and contribute dollars, helping to improve the quality of life in the communities in which we work and live.
During 2009, Blue Crew members collectively raised nearly $9,000 for organizations including St. Luke’s Health Foundation, the American Heart Association, and Komen Boise Race for the Cure.
Blue Cross of Idaho employees open their hearts each year for the annual Valentine’s Day Karnations for Kids fundraiser benefiting St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. Together with other participating companies, Blue Cross of Idaho sponsors this well-loved event and helps to raise money for the hospital. An army of Blue Crew volunteers works together to tag, sort and deliver hundreds of flowers throughout the company on Valentine's Day.
Blue Crew team members participate in several organized fitness events, such as the St. Luke’s Women’s Fitness Celebration. As a part of the Celebration, Blue Cross of Idaho also participates in the two-day Celebration Women’s Show at the Boise Centre on the Grove. This is Idaho’s most comprehensive and unique show just for women.
In 2009, Blue Cross of Idaho continued its support of many local organizations through corporate contributions including the American Heart Association, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Rake up Meridian and the Red Cross’ on-site blood drives every quarter.
The Blue Crew offers a coordinated, team-oriented program that allows opportunities for positive teamwork experiences. Whether walking for a cause or raking a yard, we are leaving our footprints in the community, making it a better place for everyone.
