Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Blue Cross of Idaho provides EAP plans through two program administrators. BPA Health (BPA) is available for groups of two or more employees and we also offer a large group EAP plan through ComPsych.

The EAP benefit provides access to professional face-to-face counseling that can help employees through many emotional and personal situations including alcohol and drug abuse, marriage and family issues, stress, anger management and job-related issues. The program also includes legal, financial, identity recovery and work-life services to assist employees with day-to-day issues.

Under the legal portion of the benefit, employees have access to free 30-minute legal consultations from an attorney over the phone. If the employee prefers an in-person consultation, the service refers them to an attorney with the appropriate expertise. Employees requiring ongoing legal services from their referred attorney receive a discount on hourly attorney fees.

Employees in need of financial advice have access to a variety of online and telephone resources including a toll-free information line staffed by financial counselors, certified consumer credit counselors, bankruptcy prevention specialists, and homeowner’s education/assistance.

Group EAP rates depend on the number of visits the group selects, ranging from one to three visits per incident, per year up to one to 10 visits per incident, per year. For more information, please contact your local Blue Cross of Idaho district office.
