Play More, Stress Less

Make this holiday season a time when you share your commitment to a healthy lifestyle with your family and friends. Focus on what is important in this season of giving – giving to yourself and others.

What can I give to myself?

  • Enjoy some time outdoors –revel in the beauty of the earth. That may mean taking a walk, sledding, skiing, snowshoeing, or playing a game of backyard football with family and friends.
  • Spend time with the people you care about – Love and laughter are good for the soul!
  • Moderation is the key – there will be many tasty treats and meals offered this season. Enjoy, and remember all in moderation.
  • Drive a different route to work. This will stimulate thought and creativity by giving you new scenery.
  • Write down three daily goals. Make them easily attainable to meet each day.
  • Spend some time doing something you enjoy like listening to music, reading a book, practicing yoga, or putting a puzzle together.
  • Spend some time enjoying the peace of the season – spend time renewing your soul.

What can I give to others?

  • Share yourself with others – find some time to volunteer with family and friends to help those who are less fortunate.
  • For gift giving – give the gift of health – purchase a pedometer, heart rate monitor, hand weights or exercise bands for a family member or friend.
  • Share a fresh fruit basket.
  • Drive a different route to work. This will stimulate thought and creativity by giving you new scenery.
  • How about giving a jump rope, soccer ball or sled as a gift.
  • The gift of time – Give coupons for house cleaning, snow shoveling, cooking a healthy meal and other activities to someone you love.

Enjoy this eason!
